In 1927, the Supreme Court of the United States decided certain “undesirables” could be sterilized against their will. And American academics were all for it.

Gordon interviews journalist Adam Cohen about his book Imbeciles: The Supreme Court, American Eugenics, and the Sterilization of Carrie Buck, which was longlisted for the 2016 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
